In August 2018, after 18 years of pharmaceutical recruiting on the client side, Mark Rogers left his role as Global Head of Talent Acquisition for Research & Development at Bristol-Myers Squibb to join Hudson RPO as Senior Account Director at Bausch Health.
“I had never been on the provider side before, but having worked with RPO companies, I know the value of an excellent RPO solution. I was looking for something new, and after an interview with Hudson RPO leadership, I knew this was a unique situation with career opportunities and a lot of room for growth,” Mark said.
Marks works onsite at Bausch Health and manages a team of 12 recruiters, some of whom are onsite while others work virtually.
Having served as a Petty Officer Second Class in the U.S. Navy, Mark also draws from his military experience to lead his team of sourcers and recruiters. “The military gives you a can-do attitude. I see problems as opportunities. It also allows me to look beyond the day-to-day to the larger mission: to help patients lead happier, healthier, more productive lives.”
Despite being part of an outsourced team, Mark said it feels like he’s part of the in-house HR group. “The Hudson RPO team is so connected to the client, my learning curve here was much faster than I’ve experienced at other companies. I just had so much access to senior leaders and client stakeholders,” Mark added. “It has allowed me to accelerate and contribute faster.”
Mark believes more in-house talent acquisition leaders should consider working for an RPO provider. “The perception is that RPO is a one shot deal… you’re an account manager and there’s no room for growth, but with a growing RPO business, there are a lot of good career opportunities.”
